It may sound like an odd thing to miss, but I truly do miss horses. As an Idaho girl, I grew up around horses, but since moving to Virginia two years I haven't even been around one of my favorite four legged friends.
I was so lucky to grow up in a family of horsemen, I truly did live every little girls dream of having her own horses. I didn't realize how much I missed that daily contact with these amazing animals until today.
As a special treat my story today allowed me to meet Malinda Scott at the Easy Does It Riding Academy in Virginia Beach. Unfortunately the drought has been really tough on her business and all people with horses. The dry weather this year destroyed grass crops and in return has sent feed prices through the roof. Many horse lovers are being forced to sell or give away their animals because they can't afford to feed them. I hate to see anyone have to give up the experience of having horses.
I am hopefull these great facilities will be able to hold on through the winter and the high prices and keep providing the opportunity for so many people to fulfill their dream of riding horses. Thank you to Malinda for letting me borrow some time with her horses and reminding me how great they are.
