At that time, she had no clue that her mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Her mom got the news six weeks earlier, but didn't tell my friend for fear it would ruin her big day. She kept what had to be terribly frightening and stressful news to herself to preserve her daughter's happiness.

It's a perfect example of how strong and selfless a mother's love can be. I have no doubt that my mom would choose to do the same thing. She's always been an incredibly giving, loving, nurturing woman who puts the happiness of my family above her own.

I think moms everywhere deserve so much credit. And even though Breast Cancer Awareness Month is almost over, we need to remember those mothers battling cancer year-round.
