Matt Dennison is working to earn his Eagle Scout rank. For his community service project he wanted to do something to make lasting difference for our environment. Last year, almost 5000 acres burned in the Great Dismal Swamp. Matt decided to rally some of his fellow scouts and aid in the restoration process. He set out to raise money and was able to buy and plant 1000 trees in the refuge! You can learn a lot more about his efforts when we feature his full story on 13News at 5:30 PM on Wednesday March 18, 2009. If you know of people working to make a difference or an environmental story that needs to be told, I'd love to hear about it. Send me your suggestions at cmoeller@wvec.com. |
