Hope everyone made it through last night's severe weather. Lots of rain and gusty winds. Lightning took its toll on WVEC. A few of our computer systems were fried and our engineering staff worked through the night to keep us up and running. Way to go guys!
Last week I mentioned the threat I thought Dean would pose to oil rigs and my concern about gas prices. Guess what... over the weekend workers evacuated the platforms in the Bay of Campeche and we'll see what kind of impact the now Cat1 Hurricane Dean has on the supply.
Here's something cool you and your family can do to help the Lynnhaven River...
Interested in raising oysters for the Lynnhaven?
Oyster Round-Up and Distribution of new baby oysters will be held
at the Boat Ramp at First Landing State Park at 64th Street,
9 - 11 a.m., on August 25.
You can learn more about the program by checking out their website:

Stay tuned to 13News - It's Our Watch... We'll explore the challenges and successes of Oyster Reef Restoration in the Lynnhaven and why it's important to the health of the river in our upcoming episode next week!
If you have questions or topics you would like me to explore on future It's Our Watch episodes, post it here or email me at cmoeller@wvec.com
