Tonight was Miracle Night at area Golden Corral restaurants and we had lots of fun for a great cause. More than 40-thousand dollars was raised tonight to help the Children's Hospital of the Kings Daughters. And it's all thanks to the thousands of of Hampton Roads folks who came out to help. I was out at the Kempsville restaurant with David Alan, Regina Mobley, Katherine Barrett, Mike Gooding, Evan Stewart and Craig Moeller. Yes we had a full house and a great time.
We got to meet lots of great folks. My favorite part of the night was getting to meet all the children who begged their parents to come out and help support the hospital. It was really heart warming. One little boy named Matthew won my heart though. He was so excited to tell me his story about how he was helped by CHKD. See back in January he had what he thought was a really bad stomach ache. But it got so bad that his mother took him to CHKD. Turns out that tummy ache was actually a bad appendix. He had it taken out safely before it ruptured and he couldn't say enough nice things about his stay at CHKD.
As a new Mom I love hearing the great stories about the wonderful care children and families receive at CHKD. I've had to take my son there once already and i'm so thankful for the care he received. It's comforting to know this wonderful medical institute is right in our own backyard.
