That's what everyone is saying about the fact that no one was killed in the tornadoes that cut a swath of destruction through Suffolk on Monday. To look at the damage left behind that's difficult to believe. What's not difficult to believe is the Spirit of Hampton Roads that is shining through all this destruction. While hundreds of people have lost their homes and many of the possession they use to hold dearly. There are hundreds more people who have stepped forward to help and that help hand is just beginning to reach out. There are many fundraisers that are still being set up. The American Red Cross and volunteers from many other charitable organization jumped in immediately to lend their help. They've been providing food and shelter. Plus helping clear away mounds of debris. But they are also providing something many of these victims are going to need for weeks, months maybe even years to come.. a shoulder to lean on and an ear to listen. |
