If you drive a car then you know the price of gas has gone up dramatically in the past few weeks. Today alone the price of a barrel reached an all time high of $102. So of course we're all paying more for gas. While I don't like it, I pay it. Because like most people I need my car to get to and from work.

I think many parents would agree it's exciting, and a bit nerve racking, to watch your kids take some of the same steps you've walked in life whether it's baseball, dance, music or art.
This morning my daughter, Mia, took over as an anchor of the morning announcements at her elementary school and I was more than a little nervous.

When you've read the news for as many years as I have sometimes it seems like nothing surprises you. But that's not true. On Thursday there was a tragic accident in North Carolina that claimed the lives of a mother, her two sons and the father of one of the boys. Amazingly her three year old daughter survived the horrific accident.

A few days ago I was speaking to some local elementary school students and was asked, "Do you ever get sad when you read the news each night on television?"

My husband called me after he casted his ballot in today's Potomac Primary. He said "it was a breeze. I parked up front and there was no line what so ever." So I figured when I left a few hours later to cast my ballot I would run into the same situation. I was wrong.

I'm one of those people who when I want to hang a picture I kind of eyeball it and just put in the nail. Good enough right? I do a lot of things that way confident i'm doing them right. That is until I had my son and we had to put in his child safety seat.
