When some fifth graders from the Mary Peak Center in Hampton recently visited the police department's K-9 division, they noticed there was a need for dog harnesses.

So, what did the girls do? At a very young age, they saw an opportunity to give back to their community, They went out and collected more than 300 dollars which was enough to buy four harnesses.

Police say the harnesses are important because thay make it easier for them, and the dogs, to track down a suspect, or a lost child.

The students are part of the Hope Club which focuses on community service.

Good kids doing good things.

There just aren't enough of those kinds of stories these days--on the news.
