Many of you may know that this past year Regina decided to confront one of her fears and learn to swim. She's blogged about her adventure on our web site, if you want to check it out.

What drove Regina to jump in with both feet was her amazing determination, and the sad statistic that young black children are three to four times more likely to drown than white children.

Regina took lessons almost everyday for the month of August. She wanted to inspire others to learn to swim.

The progress she made in a short time was amazing, learning a number of strokes and growing more and more comfortable in the water.

Suprising? Not really. This is a woman who one summer carded holes in one two days in a row on the golf course. And won a car!

Regina spells passion with a capital 'P.' She's very competitive. She's set a goal of swimming 50-miles by spring. It's an ambitious goal, but I have no doubt she'll do it.

Today she told me she's swimming more than a half-mile several days a week.

If you ever get on the horse behind her on the merry-go-round, the brass ring very likely will be gone by the time you get there.
