I bought a lot of last minute things for the nursery, clothes and a really cute "Boppy" pillow cover that I thought would be great when the weather got cooler. Everything came including my son and life was good. Until about two weeks ago when I got an email from Target.com.
The email was to inform me that the Boppy cover I purchased was part of a recall. Of course I had just started using the cover about a week earlier so like any good mother I freaked. Had I unknowingly subjected my son to something harmful? What could possibly be wrong with this soft cuddly cover? I quickly logged onto the Boppy site to find out. Turns out my cover had problems with the zipper coming loose which could pose a choking hazard. So I called the hotline to find out what I was suppose to do. Since I bought it online should I return it to the store? Turns out they wanted me to send it back to them. In fact they even sent a postage paid receipt for me to do that. So this afternoon I mailed it off to the Boppy folks. In a few weeks they're going to send me a new cuddly cover for my son with a stronger zipper.
I have to say it was a little scary to realize I had something that was recalled. But even scarier when I realized that if I hadn't bought it online I might not have even been aware of the recall. So kudos to Target for letting me know about it. Just another example of why it's so important to keep checking the Consumer Product Safety Commission website daily.
