The Thanksgiving dinner dishes weren't even washed yet, and there I was pulling the dusty old boxes of Christmas lights, and bows, and ribbons and other things we have collected over the years, out of the attic.

This year I happened to notice that we sure do have a lot of lights.

We have lights for the tree. There are lights for the windows and lights for the mantle.

We have lights for things that sit on tables, and we have lights for things light up bathrooms.

We also have lights to hang on the outside of the house. (Hopefully I can always come up with a good excuse for not dragging out the ladder and hanging them from the roof.)

So, this year I came to the conclusion my family simply isn't very green when it comes to decorating for the holidays. We have too many lights.

So, we've cut back this year to be more green--to save a bit on energy.

It just feels like the right thing to do.
