just wanted to say that i hope many of you can watch our special report monday morning (tomorrow morning) on 13news daybreak from 5-5:30am or from 6-6:30am. for the very first time, the coast guard allowed a local reporter -- me -- to be rescued during one of their drills in the pasquotank river in elizabeth city, nc. we got special clearance from washington to do this and we had 3 cameras in place to capture all of the action. we've had some coast guard rescues in the news lately -- a downed pilot from oceana was saved when his helicopter crashed off the virginia coast......and that cruise ship that ran aground near pungo just last week and all those passengers that the coast guard got to safety. but this report airing on monday takes you in the helicopter, in the water with me, and introduces you to the men who pull off these amazing rescues at sea. and you'll see what they have to do to get the job done. i will have an extended blog on my experience once the report airs so i don't want to give too much away right now. but i can tell you this may be the best experience of my career so far and i hope it gives you an unprecedented look at the bravery of these crews....man.....what a rush. you'll see what i mean monday morning on 13news daybreak between 5 and 5:30am and if you can't catch it then, you have another chance from 6 to 6:30am. thanks for watching wvec! lasalle
