i hate to say this, especially since i was raised a die hard new york yankees fan in southwestern connecticut, but the boston red sox deserve to be world series champs. throughout the playoffs, i think they sent a positive message to our kids. they won by displaying the ultimate in team sport. their biggest slugger david ortiz didn't blast home runs, their rookie second baseman who's 5 foot 7 - dustin pedroia did. other rookies hustled out every ground ball - they played like they've been there before and their energy gave the veterans a big spark - playing loose, playing with smiles on their faces, playing like they were enjoying the moment. they didn't play like superstars entitled to the championship, they played like a bunch of guys having each other's backs and truly enjoying being out there with each other. my yankees used to play like that and we will again someday. but for now, congrats to the boston red sox and all of you who are members of the red sox nation. as a die hard yankees fan - i look forward to a great run in 2008 without alex rodriguez who opted out of his contract to pursue free agency. he wants $30million...... A YEAR????? if he ends up with boston during this off-season, forget everything nice i just said about the sox. (just kidding). one more time - congratulations boston red sox and all of you fans out there. it is now officially fall and football season. |
