The Weighting Game

5:36 PM Sun, Aug 03, 2008 |

My dear co-worker and friend Rachel Platt often says she would rather tell her age than weight. I am about to do both. I rarely reveal my weight to anyone. I don't even have a scale in my home. But recently little elves keep going in my closet and adjusting my clothes so they don't fit. In actuality I just had a baby and the weight isn't coming off as fast as I'd like. So I am asking for your help.

Let's take part in a fitness challenge. It's time to do something and I find it's easier to get fit in a group than alone. For the next four weeks I will be taking part in what's known as "Boot Camp." The actual title of the program is Mohr Results Adventure Boot Camp for Women. Here is the link to read more about it http://www.mohrresultsbootcamp.com/
Doctors Christopher and Kara Mohr conduct these camps every month.

Tomorrow is the first day. I don't know my total fat percentage yet. But we'll find out. I do know my starting weight. It's 175. I need to lose about 20 pounds to get back in my old clothes comfortable. As much as I would love a new wardrobe - I need to challenge myself to get back in my old gear.

Here's where you come in. I will be blogging about my experiences on our website. Just go to the blogs section of our site, then click on Shape Up Kentuckiana and you can check in with us everyday. Brooke Couch works with me at WHAS and will be doing the boot camp also and she'll be blogging as well. We will have a message board set up on this portion of the site. You will be able to find this under the Shape Up Kentuckiana blog section. We want you to get in shape with us. If you've ever said to yourself - I want to get in shape but I don't know where to start, we'll be your buddies. We'll update you daily on workouts, best foods to eat and how to keep your focus on fitness. Let's make the commitment to each other and promise each other we'll stick with it.

Here's what I know about boot camp so far. It's five days a week. It starts at 5:30 in the morning. I know! It's an hour long. And the people I have seen taking part in it look very tired at the end. So if you see me on the air looking slightly sluggish you'll know why.

Okay, now it's time for you to get on the computer, post your weight loss stories (triumphs and frustrations) and ask questions. We can do it. We'll chat daily and encourage each other. Here's to living our best healthy lives!
