This week (and weekend) is arguably the biggest week ever in Louisville with parades, races, and a whole lot of parties! So how do you maintain a healthy lifestyle while still enjoying yourself with all the festivities? It IS possible, you just have to plan ahead. Here are 5 tips to help you do just that. 1. Watch the alcohol intake. Every 4 oz glass of wine provides 100-150 calories. Mint julips, around 150-200 calories. We're not saying don't ever drink. In fact, research suggests 1 drink/day for women and 2 drinks/day for men may actually be healthy. However, it's overconsumption that can hurt you. Not only do those calories add up, but you then lower your inhibition to all other foods that go into your body. Alternate each alcoholic drink with a non alcoholic counterpart. 2. Don't overindulge in Derby Pie! All foods can fit into any nutrition plan -- the issue, is the portions. Enjoy everything, don't stuff yourself like a Thanksgiving turkey, however. 3. Exercise in the morning before each event. It's tough enough fitting exercise into your routine each day, let alone when the afternoon and evening are filled with different events. Therefore, it's easiest to simply get it done first thing in the morning! Need a little push? Check out Louisville Women Only Fitness Boot Camp, where we're taking 2008 pounds of Louisville in 2008!!
