What Voters Are Saying

May 22, 2007

I don't have alot of time to blog right now, but plan to have a fuller entry after the 6 p.m. news here on election day.

But here are my observations after brief stops at polling places in Henry, Oldham and Bullitt counties. I probably interviewed about 25 voters.
Steve Beshear is kicking everyone's butt at the precincts around New Castle. Perhaps it's because a number of folks in Henry County work in state government or have relatives who do and still remember Beshear's tenures as A.G. and Lt. Governor.
Steve Henry is doing better than I expected. It appears a number of voters have disregarded Henry's legal and ethical problems or are unaware of them. Henry is particularly strong among the dems I interviewed in Bullitt County.
Anne Northup, as expected, is strong in Oldham County. The problem is that turnout at the Crestwood area precincts I stopped at was abysmal. She needs a big turnout in Jefferson, Oldham and other Louisville area counties to have a shot.
Also voters, democrats and republican, say they're not happy with Fletcher, but don't think the November election will be a referendum on the sitting governor, if he's the nominee. That's good news for Fletcher.

Mark, I am the lady who in 2003, did the interview with you in Cherokee Park concerning that election.(Governors Race). I am just curious if any negative things have been said about me by anyone, during this campaign.
