« Tourney Time Begins | Main | Hero Takes a Fall, or:The Geek Shall Inherit the Earth » Return to 'Cat-lanta?March 08, 2007"The Wildcat Invitational" - that's how Kentucky fans and sometimes players (yes you Ramel Bradley) like to refer to the SEC Tournament. But lately, it's not quite lived up to the name. The stats are crazy. UK has won 25 SEC Tournament Titles, five more than the rest of the league combined. But now they've gone two years without cutting down the nets When you add that to the Final Four drought, the Big Blue grumbling is growing louder and louder. If Kentucky can make a run here in Atlanta and then in the NCAA Tournament that might make up for another lackluster regular season with zero wins against ranked teams. WHAS-11 will follow the Wildcats all the way. Myself and photographer Wade Harris made the drive to Atlanta on Wednesday..It took about six hours in case you are coming down from Louisville. We saw two or three cars flying the UK colors on the way down, but I'm sure the Big Blue Nation will be all over the place on Thursday. After arriving in Atlanta, we stopped by the massive CNN Center to transmit some videotape back to Louisville for our late newscast. We will be using CNN's facilities during our stay here. While checking to our hotel, we heard Allan Houston just arrived. Every year the SEC honors a great player from each SEC school. This year the Louisville native will represent Tennessee. Kenny "Sky" Walker is here for Kentucky. Look for our reports from Atlanta at 5pm, 6pm, and 11pm on WHAS-11. We'll have highlights of Kentucky's opening game against Alabama and take you inside the UK lockeroom to hear from the players and coach Tubby Smith. So long from Atlanta.
