« February brings balance to mild winter… | Main | Severe Storm Prediction; NWS, WHAS11 and You » OK. What next?February 13, 2007You might recall starting the winter with doubts that we would have any wintery weather at all this year. While it’s true our snowfall is still a little anemic, the cold air has been plenty healthy. From the start of winter through January 15, the average high temperature was 53 degrees. Once we hit January 16, Old Man Winter came visiting and has made himself comfortable here in the Ohio Valley ever since. Our average high from January 16 to February 13 has been 34 degrees, nearly 20 degrees colder! It seems that our weather patterns can shift about once every 6 weeks or so. If this is the case then we should be coming out of this surge of wintry weather into a bit milder and perhaps less active weather pattern that hopefully will take us through March and early April. I say that because as you well know once we stop thinking of winter, we start thinking of spring and the kind of weather that season can bring. Let’s see how that forecast hold up but remember, if the first half of spring is quiet, what will the second half be like? Stay tuned.
