Weather: January 2009 ArchivesThat was one big Winter storm! At least after the wind storm last September, the weather was quiet and very comfortable. Nothing like that this time. So much of the area is still without heat and power and there isn't much help on the way from Mother Nature. Highs stay below freezing over the next few days. It isn't really until next week that we see some warmer conditions. Get used to seeing those power and tree folks! The Martin mansi... Finally a little relief from the cold. We did get some sledding in over the past 2 days, but the sun has taken most of that away. So why not warm things up. We will be near 50 by Friday afternoon. Get some outdoor plans! By the weekend, the cold air will return. The biggest question mark is early next week. Depending on where the storm center moves, south of us or right at us, we could be looking at an icy mess. If it moves to our sout... A Winter Weather Advisory will be issued later this afternoon for tonight and tomorrow morning. The clipper system moving through doesn't look that impressive, but any amount of snow on the ground will cause some delays and problems for the morning commute. Look for a dusting to 1/4" in the south with higher amounts along and north of the river. We will see the mercury dropping through tomorrow afternoon. Cold air settles in and hangs toug... Boy have we been cranking the heat. No, not outside, inside! Don't look for any relief from the high heat bills over the next week or so. By late tonight, we start pumping in some colder air so we have the chance for a few spotty light rain or snow showers tomorrow morning. The best chance for snow will be during the late evening. Our last weekend of the holidays will be a bit wet. At least it is rain and not freezing rain. The kids aren't so excited about the lack of snow.
