So, I have a cold, and last few days I've been sounding more like Barry White than Ben Pine. It's been pretty noticeable too, since I've been trying to give forecasts, on-air, in front of thousands of people, sounding like I'm going through reverse-puberty.

When you can't talk, people do one of two things.

Either they run up to you giving you tips, on how to make every kind of magical curing potion, like hot toddies, green, black, brown teas with honey and lemon, warm salt water, taken with any number of over-the-counter medications. And, yes, I have just about tried them all, except for the whiskey or wine...but maybe I should have.

Or, people run the other way, because they don't want what you have - that's probably the smarter group.

I want to thank those who have taken the time to give up their sickness-tested cures. Whether they work or not, I appreciate the effort and kindness. I'm sure time will cure this little bug, and if not, I'll just have the deepest voice of any meteorologist in town!

We're talking about some big weather on this big travel day. If the family is heading home, it's more than likely they'll head into either snow or rain. Around southern Indiana, Kentucky, and areas south, we're talking all rain today. Central and northern areas of Indiana and Illinois, it is all snow. Snow gets heavier over northern areas Indiana and Illinois. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through tonight for those areas, and even a Winter Storm Warning in far northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.

Generally speaking, from I-70 south you'll run into mainly rain today. North of I-70 look for snow showers. Around I-55 in central Illinois expect snow, 2-4 inches possible from St. Louis to Chicago to Davenport. Then as you go to northern Illinois around I-80 expect possibly more than 4 inches of snow, with 4-8 inches possible around I-88, into southern Wisconsin.

Expect light rain to turn into light to moderate snow showers tonight and through Monday around Indiana and Kentucky Monday. Less than an inch of snow is likely by Monday night around Kentuckiana.

After Thanksgiving many of us try to get active to burn off the thousands of extra calories we endulged with the family. It's also a time when the weather can get pretty active too! It looks like our December will start off on the busy side.

Our first storm brings rain Sunday, then snow Monday. Accumulations will likely be well less than a half inch in most areas by Monday night, and mainly on grassy surfaces.

The second storm arrives late Wednesday. This could be a pretty strong one with some heavy rain, turning to snow overnight into Thursday. The coldest air of the season will likely ride on down the northwest flow to Kentuckiana with highs only in the 30s this Thursday and Friday.

The third storm could arrive late next Monday (possibly).

If the long range models hold true, in about a week and a half some warmer temperatures may finally arrive. But, it looks like we could have a storm every few days with the active weather pattern holding on.

A pretty decent storm system is still projected to head in late Saturday and Sunday. The exact track will determine who gets more rain versus snow, but averaging the models out would give us some light accumulations by Monday morning. Could be messy and very busy for weather and traffic on the 1's!!

Just fantastic (sarcastic), looks like a wet commute for our Monday...hope that doesn't give you a "case of the Mondays!"

A cold front is crossing the area, and with it we could see anywhere from a 1/4 to 3/4" of rainfall. Cold air will race right in behind the front Monday night. With a little wrap-around moisture, we will likely once again see some patchy light snow and flurries overnight through Tuesday morning. No accumulation is expected, although a few areas could see a very light dusting Tuesday.

A brief warm-up to the low 50s for Thanksgiving, then another cold blast arrives for the upcoming weekend. No doubt this has been a below average November, and looks like the colder than normal weather will continue for at least another week, thanks to this stubborn northwesterly flow.

It was the coldest morning so far this season, with temperatures starting off in the TEENS! I even saw a couple ponds with a thin layer of ice. If the idea of winter settling in hasn't settled in yet, that image should do the trick. March 9th was the last time we had temperatures in the teens.

Just as cold and crazy is our high temperature. Friday's high was 36, guess what, today's high was 36 too! That's 15-20 degrees below average!! It's going to be another
"Furnace Appreciation Night", cause we're really going to appreciate the heater tonight with lows back down to the low to mid 20s. Keep the coat and extra blanket around for the next week at least with temperatures remaining below average.

Good news though, Sunday will be a bit warmer with highs around 50, and it looks like Thanksgiving could be one of our better days with sunshine and highs in the low 50s!

Ok, my wife and I can't be the only ones going through this lately! Our 13 year old thinks it's tropical weather outside in November. I know the story has been the same forever, but make sure you win the battle over the next few days. The days will be starting out in the 20s and Tuesday's high will only be around 40. Keep those jackets and hats on! We'll all be watching!

...update 9:14pm...just talked to Monty, he said he also had a dusting on the deck, some on the grass, and rooftops...but, he forgot to take a picture. If anyone got any pictures of the early morning dusting of snow, we'd love to see them. Send em' our way!

...update 8:11pm...well, I shouldn't have given up so soon! I finally did see a flurry, with very small flakes, mixed with tiny ice pellets. Also got some reports of a little dusting of snow on some decks, but not on the grass.

...update 6:46am...ok, I think my flurry tracking is coming to an end, not much to talk about, everything is off to the east. Plus, I need a nap. Maybe I'll be back to tracking some flakes Monday with another shot of cold air arriving to Kentuckiana.

...update 6:04am...a NWS employee reported a few flurries on the NE side of Louisville. SDF reported unknown precip type. So, I guess it's official, a few flurries :)

...update 5:54am Sunday...radar still trying to show a little white patches/flurries, but I think it's mainly just a little drizzle. Mostly dry, and flurry chances quickly coming to an end.

...update 12:20am...yet to see a flurry with my own eyes, no official reports from NWS.

...update 9:37pm...just light drizzle reported at SDF and FTK. Some mixed near Seymour. The flake hunt continues...

...update 8:52pm...rain/sleet/snow mix reported at Fort Knox. Radar showing few spots of possible flurries.

Well, I hate to pat myself on the back...but, if you look back at my entry last weekend, I mentioned a few flurries for this Saturday night, and that's about all we're going to see through Sunday morning. The moisture is leaving as the cold air arrives, so not a good enough overlap to produce an accumulating snowfall, plus the ground temperatueres are above freezing and would melt any of the falling snow. So, with those two things working against us, I wouldn't expect much more than some patchy flurries. I have noticed our Stormtracker 3D Doppler Radar already hinting at some mixed precipitation at 8:30 this evening, but again, it's just real isolated and patchy so far. If you do see some flurries, let me know, love to hear about those first flakes of the season. If I had the time, instead of tornado chasing, I would go snowflack chasing tonight.

I will pat Monty on the back as well, as he was hinting at this small chance of flurries two Friday's ago...not bad forecasting in my book!

So, if you were hoping for a big snowfall, sorry, not this time. But, hey, if you like the cold, we've got a lot of that heading our way...check out our 7-day forecast!!

Well, it looks like we will see our first snowflakes of the season late Saturday evening! That's the easy part of the forecast...

A cold front is currently pushing through the area bringing Kentuckiana a nice dose of rain overnight. Temperatures will fall all day Saturday behind the front, with gusty northwesterly winds. We'll start the morning off in the 40s and drop into the mid to upper 30s by evening (look for some rain and snow mixed by Saturday evening).

Now for the tricky part... How much moisture will be around when the really cold air arrives overnight Saturday? Right now it appears that the moisture layer will be relatively shallow late Saturday evening-night. Which would give us just flurries and with the ground being still being warm, I'm not looking for any accumulation (with that said I wouldn't be surprised if we see a little snow sticking to grassy areas).

One thing we will need to watch out for will be some icy spots on the roads early Sunday morning when temperatures will be below freezing.

Bottom line... No need to find your snow shovel or rush to the grocery store to buy milk and bread. I'm sure there will be time for that later this winter!
