Heavy Rain, Strong Storms and Possible Flooding

6:50 PM Thu, Oct 08, 2009 |

Flood Watch for Jefferson, Oldham, Trimble Counties north into S. IN until Friday 8pm.

Flood Warnings for Rivers in the following S. IN counties; Washington, Jackson and Lawrence.

Showers and storms (locally heavy downpours) this evening with the warm front moving through the region. Then get ready for the HEAVY RAIN! A Cold front will start pushing into the area overnight and with several waves (low pressure) riding along the front we will see the front stall out along the river setting up a training event. Right now here's what I'm expecting...

Northern Jefferson, Oldham, Henry, Trimble, Carroll north into southern IN: 3-5" (locally heavier)

Metro: 2-4" (Locally heavier)

Southern Jefferson-Bullitt: 1-3" (Locally Heavier).

South of Bullit County: 1-2"

Some of the storms will be very strong and could produce winds 40-60 mph overnight and early Friday Morning. Cool this weekend, but the sun does return.
