For more information about Jupiter and the night sky Click Here ...I will be at the waterfront once again this year delivering the weather live from the 2009 Ford Ironman Louisville. I'll be bringing some awesome weather for the event, temperatures will be in the 60s through the morning, with low 70s during the afternoon. A big change from the year before, when we had 90s. It'll be a cool 2.4 mile swim, then a crisp 112 mile bike ride, finally a comfortably cool 26.2 mile run! Those ironmen and wo... If you have any late summer plans for the east coast, you might be dealing with some rough surf this weekend! Danny will be... It's going to be hazy, hot, and humid again today and summer-like again tomorroow. But, a big change to much cooler weather isn't too far away. A cold front brings showers and storms Friday and Saturday, then brings down temperatures back to the 70s this weekend, through the middle of next week!!! Enjoy! Here's your 7 day.
No, we are not "Feathered" hair, bell bottoms or Disco, but 70s in August... Todays high of 79 has given us 3 days of 70s in a row (79-today, 77-Sunday, 75-Saturday), and that got me thinking... "How many times has this happened in the past?" The answer... Quite a few times, so here are the top three years... 5 days in a row - 2004 So, would this be the opposite of an Indian Summer? What a gift to the Chamber of Commerce, more perfect weather for the Kentucky State Fair again today with highs in the mid 70s. Folks from out of town will remember this perfect weather in Louisville, and we'll keep distant memories of a flood, ice, and wind storm out of our heads. Saturday's high was only 75, 10 degrees below average. Bowling Green actually set a record cool high... Thank you cold front! Get ready for the 70s! Not talking about the band Journey at the fair tonight, I'm talking about the much cooler, fall-like air back in town this weekend! Highs Saturday and Sunday will struggle to hit the mid 70s. Just a sprinkle or light shower chance late today mainly north of the river, then again Saturday afternoon, but plan on mostly dry and certainly cooler weather. We'll warm back up for the middle part of ne... Scattered strongs storms still possible overnight. ...A line of strong to severe storms are pushing into central Indiana this evening and the do have a history of producing tornadoes, damaging winds and large hail in IL. Because of this a Tornado Watch has been issued until 1 AM for the following Indiana Counties, Lawrence, Jackson, Jennings, Ripley and Switzerland. Scattered showers and storms this evening and tonight for everyone else, any storms that develop will be capable of heavy ... Kentuckiana is setting under a very warm and moist (tropical) airmass and any storms that develop today will be capable of producing locally heavy rain and gusty winds. Tropical Storm Claudette formed today, the 3rd named storm of the season. Ana, Bill, and Claudette all were named within about 24 hours of each other. Claudette is spinning just south of the panhandle of Florida and will be dumping inches of rain over Florida and Alabama over the next couple days. Winds have been sustained at 50mph within the storm. Claudette will not become a hurricane, but Tropical Storm Bill could be the first major hur... We're finally tracking the tropics! It's been a below average year, with no tropical storms or hurricanes - until today. Tropical Storm Ana was named this morning, then Bill this afternoon. Yesterday's rain (4.53") broke the one day August rainfall total that has been around since 1879 (3.76")! What is so amazing about Tuesday's rain was that 3" fell in one hour at the Airport and 1" of that poured in just 10 minutes. Well, the Climate Prediction Center has our area, especially just to the north, highlighted for above average chances of below average temperatures and above average rainfall. So to sum that up, there's a pretty good chance at a warm (not hot) August, with plenty of rain chances. Here are the maps. Temperatures: Patoka Lake/Blue River Area = 81, Becoming Mostly Sunny Rough River - Taylorsville Lakes = 83, Partly Sunny. Dry for Rough River, left-over early morning shower for areas east of I-65. Clearing this afternoon for everybody with lower 80s! (Including Bluegrass, Western Kentucky Parkway Areas) Nolin River - Green River Lakes = 84, Partly Cloudy, 30-40% Chance of a Shower/T-st... No day hit 90 degrees or above. The first time this has ever happened in July since records started being taken in 1871. The high temperature averaged 81.1 (-5.0) degrees, the 1st coolest July for high temperatures. The average temperature was 73.4 (-5.0) degrees, the 2nd coolest July on record. We had handfull of record cool high temperatures, and one record cool low. Rainfall was above average at 6.02", ... |
