This has never ocurred in Louisville's recorded weather history (since 1871). More "COOL" July facts... Three times in Louisville's history only one 90+ degree day was recorded in July, most recently 1979. This July has been the 2nd coolest on record with a... We've got 5 more days of July to try and break some all-time records... So far it's the 2nd coolest July on record at an average of 72.9 degrees. The record is 72.4 for July in 1947. Plus, if we do not get to 90 degrees over the next 5 days, this will be the first July on record without a day at 90 or above! Cool July Facts: - Today's high of 73 tied the record cool high that was set in 1947. I'm enjoying the cool temperatures! ...An area of low pressure and its associated cold front will slowly track right over us... Bringing with it a bunch of rain! GFS model showing close to 2 inches between 8am-2pm tomorrow. We could see a few inbedded thunderstorms, but the instability is not all that good, so I don't expect any severe weather with this system. Find your rain gear!!!

Get ready for some COOL stats! This has certainly been an abnormal July! And, Saturday was no different with a record cool high of only 70 degrees! Smashing the old "minimum maximum" of 75 set in 1918. We've had 5 record cool highs in July. Remember the first week of this month? The first 4 of 5 days were in the 70s, with 3 record cool highs...here's a recap. July 1st = 73 Near the Record: 71 Get ready for a cool weekend... Models are showing a very cool trof (especially for this time of year!) setting over us this weekend. This will allow a northwesterly flow to pump in abnormally cool air into Kentuckiana... Highs will be a good 10 to 15 degrees cooler than normal!
Hurricane Carlos is out in the Pacific. Still NO hurricanes or any named storms for that matter in the Atlantic Basin (the Basin we tend to pay close attention to). Dewpoints have climbed into the low 70s around Kentuckiana... So the atmosphere is juicing up nicely, all we have to do now is wait for the cool front to arrive Saturday afternoon. The front looks like it will stall out over or just to the south of us on Sunday keeping a good chance of storms in the forecast. Some of these storms will be strong producing gusty winds and heavy rain. There is even a slight risk we could see an isolated sever... Get ready for a hot and muggy Friday with highs in the low 90s (YUCK!) Late Saturday evening an approaching front will trigger showers and storms. Some of these will be strong, producing gusty winds and locally heavy rain. SPC has us in a slight risk for severe weather Saturday afternoon through Sunday Morning.

If you've been keeping track you'd know this is the 3rd record "minimum maximum" this month. Almost 4! July 1st = 73 Near the Record: 71 The coolest it's ever been on Thursday, July 2nd, is 71 in 1989...and, yet again, this Thursday! We had a high of only 71 degrees at 2:38 pm. We were only 2 off the record coolest yesterday, with a high of 73. What a start to July! - the hottest month of the year. ...So, are youing coming down to party this weekend!?! The Waterfront Independence Festival presented ... July is our hottest month of the year. It averages a high of 87. The record highest temperautre is 107, it happened a few times in our local history books. Average low for the month is 69 degrees (kind of muggy). Average rainfall is 4.30". We more than doubled that in June, will July be wet or dry, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Just a couple rain chances over the next week or so, unfortunately one of those is on Indepe... Almost. We had a high of 73 Wednesday only two off the record coolest high temperature of 71, set back in 1937. We won't be too far off the mark again Thursday. The record coolest for July 2nd is once again 71, set back in 1989. The forecast is for mid to upper 70s. Our average highs are around 86-87 degrees, so more than 10 degrees below that Wednesday. Not the best swimming weather, but it's a nice break from the heat! ... |
