Strong to Severe Storms Tuesday

11:08 PM Mon, Jun 15, 2009 |

Tomorrow could be a very busy day...! Almost all the ingredients are coming together for a round of severe weather... stationary/warm front pushing north; low riding along the front; dew points in the upper 60s to low 70s; decent shear; low level jet (35-45mph) developing just to our west and shifting east; Jet stream starting to push south in the afternoon... However, the variable in this equation is the cloud cover we currently have, if we can get any clearing or thining of the clouds tomorrow afternoon we will see the atmospheric instability increase. Setting us up for Severe Storms. Right now I think the greatest threat will be damaging winds, large hail, very heavy rain and lightning.

SPC has 30% chance for Severe Storms tomorrow just to our southwest...

From the SPC... "...POTENTIAL FOR WIDESPREAD DMGG WINDS/LARGE HAIL... A MODERATE RISK IS CERTAINLY PLAUSIBLE..."

Stay tune...
