Happy Father's Day!

9:41 PM Sat, Jun 20, 2009 |

So, my perfect Father's Day would include golf, swimming, and fishing. Not particularly in that order, but that sounds about right. What a typical American dad! They make greeting cards just for boring old dad's like me :). I guess it's not too bad to be normal.

My dad taught me how to fish, and we used to go as often as possible during the summer at Brookville Lake (not too far up the road, not too far from Cincinnati). Then, we'd mix in some skiing and swimming. I find myself now teaching my dad how to golf (he's played all his life, but not very well). I finally taught him the number one lesson in golf - hitting down on the ball, to make it go up. Anyways, now I'm passing along my fishing skills to my daughter, and eventually my boy. The three generations actually had a chance last week to catch a few bluegill together. Good stuff! Happy Father's Day Dad!

Enough about me, what are you going to do to beat the heat on your Father's Day? There will be a chance for a few storms, but don't let that cancel any of your plans. Just be prepared to take shelter for a short time if the sky turns dark. You know how the storms go this time of year, they only last about 15 minutes, then they're gone (usually). So, don't be discouraged if you get a storm Sunday or even Monday, most of the day will be just plain hot and steamy. Heck, maybe you'll just want to stay inside with the A/C this Dad's Day!

Now that I think of it, sitting on the couch watching golf, the US Open of course, sounds just about right!
