A Busy Tuesday Afternoon

11:45 PM Tue, Jun 16, 2009 |

A fast moving "Bow Echo" (squall line) raced through Kentucky today. Around 3 pm the southern segment of this line started intensifying, and robbing the northern part of the bow of it's strength. As a result most of the severe weather remained well south of the greater Louisville area. This line of storms did produce over 50 wind damage reports of down tree, power lines and roof damage, as well as numerous funnel cloud reports.

We could see a few more strong storms tomorrow afternoon. SPC has us in a slight risk for severe weather tomorrow (15% chance).

Hot and humid air arrives Thursday and Friday with highs in the 90s... Yuck! We could be looking at Heat Indices near 100.

We are also going to need to keep a close eye on Friday evening/night... The models are suggesting the potential for a severe weather outbreak. Still to early to be sure... Stay tune!
