Are you ready for a little break from the sweaty weather!? Well, it's coming, thanks to a cool front sliding to the east. It's just been muggy, with pop-up storms the last several days at least. A reprieve fro... Our warm and muggy weather will continue through Thursday. We are stuck in a strong southerly flow which is pumping lots of Gulf moisture into Kentuckiana, add to that some day time heating and we get pop-up showers/storms developing in the afternoon. Mother Nature has open the door to the Gulf and we will continue to see an increase in low level moisture this weekend... It's going to be MUGGY! (Yippie) With this increase moisture, daytime... I've been asked by the Bats to throw out the Ceremonial First Pitch this Sunday. It should be a lot of fun... I've never done this before and my son thought he would offer me some advice... Tomorrow we will add a little more humid... An Air Quality Alert has been declared for the Louisville metro area for Thursday, May 21, 2009. The Air Quality Index (AQI) is expected to be in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range. The AQI is expected to reach 106. The determining pollutant is ozone. Sensitive groups include: AP-The Nation's Weather You'll find some Frost Advisories (yes, Frost) scrolling over the top of our webpage. Areas mainly north of the river and over the Bluegras Region of Kentucky will have the chance for some patchy frost through early Monday morning. Flood Warnings will be scrolling across the top of the page over the next several days, as the East Fork of the White River remains above flood stage through early this week. At Seymour, the river got to 17.8 ft (Flood Stage 12.0 ft), and apparently at 18.0 ft, 50% of Jackson County is flooded. AP-The Nation's Weather Radar Rainfall estimation from New Albany to Cementville (Floyd and Clark Co.) was 1 to 4 inches in less than an hour. This cause lots of flooding problems. We are currently watching two areas of convection (T-Storms)... The first is a complex of storms moving out of SW IN heading towards Dubois-Jennings Co. We haven't seen anything severe out of these storms, just some heavy rain and gust to around 45 mph. The heavy rain has caused some locally flooding problems in Lawrence, Jackson, Washington, and Jennings Co. There is a Tornado watch in effect until 11 pm for SW IN, but I believe t... Monday was a perfect May day with plenty of sunshine and highs in the low to mid 70s... What an incredible storm system that moved through Kentucky Friday afternoon/evening. For a while it looked like a hurricane on the satillite/radar loop! Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 7 AM Saturday for the following Kentucky Counties... Grayson, Hart, Larue, Green, Taylor, Adair, and Marion. Storms are firing up along a stationary boundary south of the Metro area. These storms will remain south of Louisville, we will continue to watch them overnight. ...The threat for severe weather is over for much of Kentuckiana. We will need to watch a boundary that is setting up in our far south viewing area. I will blog more after the show because I'm very busy now getting ready for the 10 pm news, updating our 24/7 weather channel, newspaper and radio stations. First batch of showers/storms moving through the southern Indiana counties of Lawrence, Jackson and Jennings. Nothing severe, but we will see heavy rain, lightning and gusts of 30-40 mph. The next round is in MO/IL and should be pushing through the area between 2-8 AM. These storms will be strong (maybe an isolated severe storm) producing some gusty winds and heavy rain (some of us will see an inch). SPC has us in a slight risk for ... It has been a very wet May and we're not even through the first week yet! So far today the airport has recorded .67" of rain, bringing the monthly total to 1.50" that is more then half an inch above average (.58"). With that said this may be hard to believe, but we are still running behind the yearly average! Our yearly average to date is 15.77" and the rain gauge has only recieve 13.12". More than two and a half inches (2.65") behi... Got a chance to catch a bass for my daughter today. Not a big one, but it sure impressed her! She wouldn't hold it, but liked the slimey little guy none the less. She got to see the bass ... The radar is looking about as green as you look the next day after one too many Mint Juleps (wimpy name for a tough drink!). A good day to sleep off that Derby hangover.
