Slammed again!

1:18 PM Wed, Jan 28, 2009 |

That was one big Winter storm! At least after the wind storm last September, the weather was quiet and very comfortable. Nothing like that this time. So much of the area is still without heat and power and there isn't much help on the way from Mother Nature. Highs stay below freezing over the next few days. It isn't really until next week that we see some warmer conditions. Get used to seeing those power and tree folks! The Martin mansion is feeling the pain again also. We lost another two trees and the phone line. I haven't seen the damage yet. It was bad enough at 2am this morning, and that was just the beginning! No power, no heat. Trust me, I feel your pain!!!

Hi Jamie:

I remember you from working here in Orlando, now you are in my hometown of Louisville. I have been following the weather there since my mom, sisters and brother still live there. I sure wish I could send some Florida sunshine your way. I am thinking of all of you and praying that warm weather arrives soon.

I just wanted to bring this to the media's attention. I and several other people deliver The Courier Journal daily, for 365 days a year, no matter the rain or snow. Today several people called in because the papers could not be delivered due to trees on top of cars, ice everywhere and downed powerlines. A friend of mine called the downtown manager and was told several people were fired today for not showing up. I find this completely stupid because two of the managers didn't even show up for work this morning. Last time I checked the news there was a state of emergency for all of Kentucky. Should we really have to risk our lives to make sure the paper is delivered? I think many of the customers would understand if they missed their paper just for one day out of the whole year. The roads are covered with ice and snow, there are trees blocking the roads and powerlines down everywhere. I think the media needs to know about this matter cause really at 3AM in the morning this was a life or death situation, and the Courier Journal wanted us to chose death just to get the papers out there. Several people are now without a job because they picked safety over stupidity. Please inform the public of this stupid matter, I think they should really know what the Couier Journal is all about and its not about the safety of their employees! Thanks so much
