HAPPY HALLOWEEN

10:47 PM Thu, Oct 30, 2008 |

Mother Nature is going to give us a nice treat this year for Halloween... Plenty of sunshine and a high of 71 degrees! That's right no rain, snow or cold temperatures for the little ghosts and goblins as they head out trick or treating tomorrow evening. Nothing scary about evening temperatures in the 60s!

I thought it would be interesting to share a little Halloween weather history...

So, Are You Ready For Snow?!?

8:48 PM Sun, Oct 26, 2008 |

Just asking :). But, seriously, there could be a few flurries off to our east near Lexington, north to Cincinnati, Dayton, and Columbus Monday night.

Do you love the snow? Alright then trivia buffs, here are some fun snow facts since we're in the mood...

*The earliest trace of snow was recorded on October 3rd, 1980.

*The earliest measurable snow of 1.4" occured on October 19th, 1989.

*The biggest sno...

Cold Snap!

8:43 PM Sun, Oct 26, 2008 |

Get out the coats, hats, gloves, and whatever else you need to stay warm! We're getting a taste of winter for the next couple days. A cold Canadian air mass has arrived, thanks to a deep dive in the jetstream over the eastern US, and a strong cold front that blew through the area Sunday evening.

A Freeze Watch is in effect through Tuesday morning as temperatures are expected to be around the freezing mark of 32 degrees around the M...

Get Ready For A Cold Night...

10:39 PM Tue, Oct 21, 2008 |

A Frost Advisory is in effect Wednesday, 1:00-9:00 am...

A cold Canadian ridge of high pressure is building into Kentuckiana overnight, this will help temperatures to fall into the 30s. The coldest temperatures, 28-33 degrees will be east of I-65 by early tomorrow morning. Widespread frost is likely from Jennings County, IN to Oldham and Green Counties, KY and east.

Watch out for the bridges and overpasse...

What a fun morning with Sam Champion!

1:26 PM Tue, Oct 14, 2008 |

Boy, that was really fun! Being out live is always great, but the excitement out on the Belvedere made it even better. We had a good crowd show up to see GMA's Sam Champion do the weather live. It was interesting to see Sam interact with the crowd. He was always very gratious and spent as much time as he had between shots to meet and greet. He even enjoyed hearing my 6 year old sing him a New York City song and My Old Kentucky Home. She ...

One For The History Books

5:48 PM Sun, Oct 12, 2008 |

As expected we not only tied the record Sunday afternoon, we surpassed the old record of 86 set in 1969, and set a new record high for October 12th, at 87. I have to say though, despite temperatures at July and August averages, the humidity was only at around 29%, so it didn't feel too warm. While no more records are expected to be broken over the next couple of days, the thermometer will still be heading nearly 15 degrees above average Mond...

Hundreds of on-air and off-air meteorologists are converging here in Louisville this week for the 33rd Annual National Weather Association Meeting. So, if you don't like the weather, you can head over to the Galt House and ...

Big Weekend, Big Temps

8:13 AM Fri, Oct 10, 2008 |

It's another fun filled weekend around Kentuckiana, with the Race for the Cure at the Waterfront Saturday morning and the continuation of the Harvest Homecoming Festival through Sunday in New Albany, among many other activities. How's the weather? Fantastic once again!

The weather news will be the possibility of a record high on Sunday. The record is 86 set back in 1969, and that's the current forecast. We'll see how close we get! ...

What a weekend!

1:11 PM Fri, Oct 03, 2008 |

Boy does it look great for the weekend!! We will be sunny and seasonable both days. No excuses! Get out of the house, NOW! Still looks like rain not returning until the end of next week. Hit the hoses.

Drought Update

8:59 PM Thu, Oct 02, 2008 |

Each Thursday, the Drought Monitor updates the drought status across the country and breaks it down locally. Today's update spreads out the severe drought over a larger area in south/central Kentucky. Much of Indiana has been added to the abnormally dry conditions. 46 counties in Kentucky are under a Burn Ban. Here's the latest updated map for our region. How is your situation? How are your well levels? Farmers, how is your crop output...

It's Fall, No More Long Ball

8:01 PM Wed, Oct 01, 2008 |

Baseball players know it, golfers know it...cold weather is not good for the game. Not only does it hurt a little more when hitting that cold rock ball, but as the thermometer falls, so does the feet and yardage of your shots. No wonder my pitching wedge could go over 150 yards on a hot summer day, then struggle for 135 yards on a cold winter day! So, as we go further into the fall season get ready to club up!

Ready for an interesti...
