Stormy 4th of July

1:16 AM Thu, Jul 03, 2008 |

I've been hearing a lot of complaining from my co-workers about my 4th of July forecast... Showers/Thunderstorms and a high of 82 (like I have any control over the weather). So how does this forecast compare to the past five years? Here are the stats...

- 2007... High: 90, Low: 72, Rain: 0.11", Showers/Thunderstorms
- 2006... High: 91, Low: 72, Rain: 0.34", Showers/Thunderstorms
- 2005... High: 92, Low: 70, Rain: 0.00"
- 2004... High: 92, Low: 72, Rain: 0.07", Showers/Thunderstorms
- 2003... High: 92, Low: 73, Rain: 0.00"
- Giving us an average High: 91, Low: 72, Rain: 0.10"

This 4th of July we will end up being about 9 degrees cooler then the five year average and we'll probably see a little more rain, because I'm forecasting some locally heavy downpours. Right now I don't believe it is going to be raining all day long so go ahead with the barbeque plans, just be ready to run inside until the shower/storm passes. It would also be a good idea to play it safe and take the rain gear with you if you plan on attending one of the many Independence Day Festivals.
