No Surprise, July Gets Hot! I Like It!

8:06 PM Sat, Jul 05, 2008 |

Ok, so it's July, we're heading closer to mid-summer, and it's going to get hotter. Breaking news right! :). Well, in order to not be Captain Obvious, I do have a few "hot" July facts for you.

Right now through July 22nd, our average high is 87. The mercury bumps up a degree on the 23rd to 88 degrees for the average. 88 degrees is the average high through the 26th. So, at the end of July there is a four day period where our average high peaks at 88. I guess that could be called the "Pinnacle", "Apex", "Climax", "Peak", or the "Summit" of summer. After the 26th of July our average high goes back to 87 through about the second week of August, and our slow cooling trend continues until the dead of winter. This is also the time when our low temperatures are the warmest, with average lows at 70. Now your "Mid-summer Night's Dream" will be filled with warmth!

Around that "peak" time is also when our highest highs have been recorded. 107 is the highest temperature taken in Louisville at Standiford Field. The thermometer rose to 107 three times, on the 14th, 24th, and the 28th.

Just so you know, five of the next seven days looks to be at or above 90 degrees. Don't plan on any more big cool-downs anytime soon.

I don't know what it is about July that makes it my favorite month. Perhaps, since my birthday is in July, school is out, I love to be in water whenever I can, and it's the heart of summer with concerts and camping... hmmm...why wouldn't it be my favorite month of the year?!

What's your favorite month? Do you like the heat like I do??
