Saturday afternoon....

We are a bit SE of Sioux Falls, SD. Driving thru a thunderstorm as this is being written. Heading toward Sioux City, IA. We stopped at a gas station in Sioux Falls. People were still chattering about the thunderstorm when we walked into the gas station. The clerk told us that it had just passed and he had never seen it rain so hard. He said about ten miles south there had been a tornado. There was no hail, but just very hard rain. We proceeded on after feeding and watering Willow (the dog) and in a little over a half hour we caught up with Thunderstorm. We are still in the trailing edge of that front right now. Monty driving, Kim typing (Kim waving hello....) We just stopped again for Cody to use the restroom. We think that he actually wanted to run out into the thunderstorm, and he actually did and he was pretty excited when he got soaked running just a few feet to and from car and gas station. OK, he is a weatherman's kid, he gets excited by thunderstorms. And he's not used to that many because WA State is not exactly brimming with severe weather. We are caught back up to the bad stuff now and just passed a couple on a motorcycle. Well, we are glad we are not them right now...they had raincoats on but still....Willow is just sleeping. She knows nothing. She is probably chasing butterflies in her dreams.

We've had some interesting adventures since our last post. This morning we found ourselves in The Badlands. Cody did not want to act too excited (remember, he is a teen who had to make a huge change and he still wants to punish us for a while). But, once we were in there, he was fascinated. He climbed The Badlands in several different spots. At one spot, there was a bone sticking out and he found it. He is fascinated by rocks and fossils of all kinds and he really wants to know what kind it is, but we were unable to find out. Still, he had a great time exploring and climbing the Badlands. If you've never been there, try to go. It's pretty interesting.

Monty has figured out how to post pictures, so when we stop for the night, he will do this. We are getting closer and closer to Louisville. It will be nice to finally get settled.

Hi Alan,

We arrived late Sunday night! Yes - It was a very long drive. I will post pictures in the next couple of days.

Hi. I can't imagine the drive from Seattle to Louisville. That has to be a long drive. I also can't imagine how hard it is leaving a place where all your family and friends are. I hope you and your family enjoy Kentucky!
