Spotty Storms Tonight/Friday, More Organized Saturday

5:27 PM Thu, Jun 26, 2008 |

The heat and humidity has been helping to pop up spotty showers and thundestorms lately during the afternoons and evenings. We'll have more of those "splash n' dash" storms again on Friday. These storms really aren't too worrisome, just go inside if you hear the thunder.

Different story on Saturday however. A cold front will move through Kentuckiana late Saturday afternoon and evening. Some cold air high in the sky will also tag along, providing more instability. So, we'll really have to watch Saturday closely for some organized severe weather. The main threat will be large hail (due to the cold air up top), and damaging straight-line winds. If you have any outdoor plans Saturday, try to fit them in early. Remember to keep a close watch of the weather, and keep it tuned to WHAS11 for your latest weather updates. Here is the current Severe Weather Outlook from the Storm Prediction Center...
