January 2008 ArchivesWe take for granted here in the Ohio Valley that cold air comes from the north and winter arrives in December. However, just the opposite is true in the southern hemisphere. ...I know this won’t warm you up but, it can and has been worse. In fact when it comes to bitterly cold winter weather, Mother Nature has been rather gentle with us for the last few years. Now, the question is will we get any snow out of it. ...January 17th is a date to remember in Louisville history. It is the date that twice produced the biggest snows in the city’s history... ...January, of course, is known for its cold and snow. Now following an unseasonably mild and stormy week last week, this week, January will be living up to its name... ...I know we saw heavy rain and thunderstorms just Tuesday and yes I know this is January. But believe it or not, we’re about to see it again... ...Boy was it a strange start to our new year! We had temps of 71 on Monday and 70 on Tuesday. We have cooled off quiet a bit now, but not enough to keep the thunderstorms away! ...With today’s high of 64 degrees on Sunday, our temperatures have come a long way since the frigid cold we were experiencing just a few days ago. This warm up will continue for now, but the cold won’t stay away too long... ...A powerful cold front passed through the area Monday evening just in time to ring in the New Year.
