Sports: June 2008 ArchivesBefore I get into the nuts and bolts of what I think of this years NBA Draft, I have a confession to make. I'm a huge NBA fan. I once told my wife from November through June I'll be unavailable because of the NBA season. I bleed NBA red. Now that we got that out of the way let's break down the 2008 NBA Draft. The first three picks (Derrick Rose, Michael Beasley, and OJ Mayo) were no brainers. I'm high on all three guys and I really li... I'll be honest. I thought Big Brown was going to win the Triple Crown. I bought the goods trainer Rick Dutrow Jr. was selling. Big Brown looked unbeatable in his previous five starts but strang things happen here in Elmont, New York as Saturday proved. Watching the race I thought jockey Kent Desormeaux had Big Brown in a perfect place on the backstretch. It was just a matter of time until the Derby and Preakness champ made his move. Bu... The news that Peter Pan Stakes winner Casino Drive has been scratched from Belmont 140 because of a bruised hind hoof is disappointing. But let's be honest. The story here in New York and around the horse racing world is Big Brown. Can he become the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed did it back in 1978?
