A Feast at Wimbledon

Breakfast at Wimbledon pretty much turned into lunch at Wimbledon today. Roger Federer and Andy Roddick played in what many are already calling an epic final. It's probably the best tennis I've ever seen Roddick play. His serve was spot on. In fact, it took Federer 77 games to break Roddick's serve.

And that's how this marathon match came to an end.

After 4 hours and 18 minutes, Federer won in the 5th set 16-14. It was actually more like the 7th set if you figure that each set usually goes 6 maybe 7 games. With the win, Federer broke Pete Sampras's record and now stands alone with 15th grand slam titles. Roddick was pretty funny during his post match interview apologizing to Pete that he really tried to save the record. I must admit, as much I love the Federer/ Rafael Nadal rivalry, it was pretty refreshing to eat my cereal and then my grilled cheese with a different Wimbledon final.

The next grand slam will be the one played in my hometown. That's the US Open in New York. The tournament is scheduled for August 31-Sept 13th. The defending champs are the same champs that just won Wimbledon 2009: Roger Federer and Serena Williams.
