I will be the first to say that I am not a fan of Derrick Caracter as a basketball player. I feel he has not advanced at all while in a Cardinal uniform. His offense is limited to a baseline spin move and his defense is...well...a liability. However, I am a fan of Derrick Caracter the person and I am rooting for him to get his stuff together and mature the way I think he honestly wants to mature.

Welcome to America, the land of second chances where we will forgive and forget faster than you can say Wardrobe Malfunction. Everyone deserves at least one chance to fall and pick themselves back up.

Metallica
MISTAKE-Entire "St. Anger" CD
FORGIVEN-It's Metallica! I will be the first one in line when their new album drops later this year. One wasted $15 cd won't keep me away from "Death Magnetic".

Andy Pettite/Jason Giambi-New York Yankees
MISTAKE-Using P.E.D's to gain an advantage in baseball.
FORGIVEN-Both having a good season in NY. Giambi's 'stache got it's own promotional day.

Josh Hamilton-Texas Rangers
MISTAKE-Drug addiction almost cost him his career.
FORGIVEN-(See 2008 MLB Home Run Derby-55,000 New Yorkers chanting his name can't be wrong.)

Ron Artest-Sacramento Kings
MISTAKE-Malice in the Palace Brawl
FORGIVEN-He is still in the league. If you can go into the stands and start thugging on people and still have a roster spot, then I would say he has gotten a second chance.

America is a forgiving nation. If DC can get his act together and straighten out I have no doubt that Cardinal fans will welcome him back with applause, not boos. And that includes applause from me.

Carater is a character but look at the character that brought him to U of L! Every year it's always something.
The U of L basketball program will be a joke as long as the Anti-Crum is the head coach. As long as he's there, I'll cheer for the other team.
