I found some info on some former Cards in NFL training camps.

With extreme heat this time of year, high school football coaches have to get creative with when they practice. That means some teams will start really EARLY or really LATE to avoid the high heat index. Christian Academy is holding some of their practices at 6 am! Before even coaching a single game at IU, new Hoosiers basketball coach Tom Crean has been given a two year extension. I will be the first to say that I am not a fan of Derrick Caracter as a basketball player. I feel he has not advanced at all while in a Cardinal uniform. His offense is limited to a baseline spin move and his defense is...well...a liability. However, I am a fan of Derrick Caracter the person and I am rooting for him to get his stuff together and mature the way I think he honestly wants to mature.

On Tuesday news broke Cards head coach Rick Pitino would welcome big man Derrick Caracter back on the team for the 2009-2010 season if he met certain conditions. I applaud the coach for this decision. It's not like Caracter has broken any laws or anything like that. He's been immature. I just spent about an hour arguing with some of my coworkers on the merits of now former CBS college basketball analyst, Billy Packer. Growing up in Philadelphia I had no choice but to become a huge basketball fan. I grew up in Philly during the heyday of Philly hoops. Dr. J and Moses Malone leading the Sixers to the city's last pro sports title way back in 1983. Andrew "The Boston Strangler" Toney ripping the hearts out of Celtics fans. Louisville football coach Steve Kragthorpe seems to have had enough with the bad publicity surrounding his program. Just in the last week JaJuan Spillman was arrested, and wide receiver Trent Guy was shot in the back while leaving a downtown nightclub. Kragthorpe took the correct move in kicking Spillman off the team. He's been very supportive of Guy. But these two latest incidents seem to part of a bigger problem.

Maybe Louisville football coach Steve Kragthorpe does listen to my unsolicited advice. In a blog on Saturday I called on Kragthorpe to get rid of JaJuan Spillman. On Thursday Spillman was arrested for the second time in less than a year and a half. The charges include driving under the influence, possession of marijuana, and carrying a concealed weapon.

From everything I know about Louisville football coach Steve Kragthorpe, he seems to be a nice guy. He seems to be a family man. A man who is deeply religious. Listen I have no problem with Brett Favre. He was a great quarterback. Not the best ever, but one of the best. But the love-fest with this guy is over the top. Enough already. Is he retired? Is he coming back? Who cares? It's not worthy of talking about it every day.

Just got back from the Madison Regatta, it was a rainy, overcast day, which actually made it quite comfortable to be out there. If you never seen these boats race, I highly recommend it. We are taking about 200 MPH on the WATER! That's crazy, I get dizzy on a paddle boat, and these guys are going 200 with waves.
