The news that Peter Pan Stakes winner Casino Drive has been scratched from Belmont 140 because of a bruised hind hoof is disappointing. But let's be honest. The story here in New York and around the horse racing world is Big Brown. Can he become the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed did it back in 1978?

Casino Drive was supposed to be a formidable challenger to Big Brown, but it wasn't like this was the matchup fans were clamoring to see. The 120,000 plus people expected to be in attendance today won't be there to see Casino Drive. No, they'll be there to watch Big Brown take his shot at making history. If Big Brown wins the Belmont and becomes the 12th Triple Crown winner no one will remember that Casino Drive wasn't in there.

So while not getting to see if Casino Drive can push Big Brown is disappointing there's still so much sizzle to this race.
