You have to wonder about the NCAA's claim over the last few years that they were going to try to keep NCAA tournament teams closer to home in the early rounds. Sure Kentucky/Marquette is a great TV game for the second slot on day one of the tournament, but do they really have to play it out here in Anaheim California? I don't really think of So-Cal as the South, but I guess people who live in San Fransisco do. Don't be mistaken, I'm not complaining about being in California while Kentuckiana bails it's way out of the flood of '08, but c'mon this is even a tough trip for a Kentucky fan. I'm also happy to be working for the only station that sent crews to cover both Louisville and Kentucky in both the Conference Tournaments and the NCAA Tournament. As for the game no two teams have played more frequently in the NCAA Tournament than Kentucky and Marquette. The Golden Eagles hold a slight five game to four game lead in NCAA Tournament play. Most recently Marquette beat the #1 ranked Wildcats back in 2003 when Dwayne Wade put a triple double on the board. Tomorrow Kentucky looks to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the 17th year in a row. This time they'll be trying to do it as an 11 seed. |
