Brackets Are Everywhere!

9:42 PM Sun, Mar 16, 2008 |

Everywhere you look for the next few weeks, you'll see brackets. You'll be dreaming about those little lines, those little numbers, that all feed into the Final Four. But who will occupy those Final Four spots..

To be honest, I'm too busy preparing tonight's sportcast to give you my picks just yet. But here's a quick breakdown of our area teams.

Louisville. Good draw. I'm surprised they still ended up as a three seed. But there strength of schedule obviously made a big difference. Coach Rick Pitino wasn't available for an interview tonight after the selection show, but here's the statement he released:

"We're excited to be in the NCAA Tournament as a number three seed in the East. I think it's a great compliment to us having played the sixth-toughest schedule in the nation and competing in the nation's toughest conference. For our fans, it's a wonderful journey because Birmingham is just a short trip away."

The Cards take on Boise State. The Broncos played a wild triple-ot game against New Mexico State in the WAC Final. Boise pulled it out to earn their first NCAA berth in 14 years. By the way, that win came against former UofL assistant Marvin Menzies. The only time Louisville played Boise State was in the first round of the 1994 NCAA Tournament. The Cards won 67-58 in Sacramento. Now they'll play in Birmingham. Take this for what it's worth, but Bob Knight picked Louisville to make the Elite 8 on ESPN.

Kentucky gets in to the NCAA Tournament and they get Marquette again!!! This is the 10th time these two teams have met in the Big Dance. Both teams have great back courts. But will UK's depth be an issue?

IU hopes to go hog wild against a good Arkansas team. The Razorbacks beat Tennessee in the SEC Tournament. If Indiana pulls it out, they get a crack at the overall top seed North Carolina.

and don't forget the Hilltoppers. Western Kentucky plays Drake in the first round. Drake is a team that can shoot the lights out. They are lead by a former walk-on, and lot of people look at them as a possible Cinderalla. But the Toppers could surprise some people to. Feel free to leave your thoughts...

Enjoy the madness!!
