Kelvin Sampson blew it. He's a good coach, given a chance to lead one of college basketball's most storied programs. He's lucky he got to keep the job considering his first brush with the NCAA. But he just couldn't resist dialing up those recruits and trying to gain an unfair advantage. Does he deserve to be fired over this?? Absolutely, he should be fired! After getting busted the first time, he did it again. He obviously thinks he's above the rules. But perhaps his biggest blunder was lying about what he did. The NCAA's latest report says he didn't tell the truth to IU or NCAA investigators. How can he keep his job? Instead of the focus being on his team and their run at a Big 10 Championship, Sampson has become the ultimate distraction. IU says they will wait 90 days to answer the charges. Of course, Sampson deserve due process, but something stinks here, and a program that hadn't been busted by the NCAA in decades is facing serious trouble. Feel free to leave your thoughts. 2 CommentsLeave a comment |

I can appreciate you being a dedicated fan, but how can you Sampson didn't do anything wrong? He broke NCAA rules. Now you might disagree with the rules, lord knows the NCAA isn't always the bastion of forward thinking. But a rule is a rule, and Sampson violated them at Oklahoma, then while on probation, did it again, then lied about it. You can't blame the media for any of that. I'm sure if another Big 10 coach was trying to gain an unfair recruiting edge you wouldn't feel the same way.
The very first words out of my mouth as a baby was IU. I have since then been a fan every since I knew what IU basketball was. I was destroyed when Bobby left. I was even more destroyed by what Mike Davis did to our team , school, the whole state for that matter. Now, when Kelvin Sampson was hired I was a bit dubious. However, this man brought back the fire and fight back to a school that had all but lost everything. I cannot believe that a man who came here for a fresh start would jeopardize that. I do not believe he did anything wrong and if the media does not let up what has been the season of all seasons in a very long time will go to the dogs. I give him my full support and I say HIGH FIVE for reviving the thrill of IU basketball. Makes me proud to be the fan I am. I hope that my grandson can continue the tradition our family has had and not be embarressed to say he is an IU fan.
