What a strange couple of days? Hasn't Louisville had enough years of speculation when it comes to the football coach. I thought that was over when Bobby Petrino went to the NFL. I guess not. Steve Kragthorpe held a brief "press conference" Wednesday. He wished everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, then said he was "100 % committed" to Louisville. Leaving UofL for SMU would have been a disaster for his coaching career, unless his aspiration is to coach at a lower-level division-one program with little pressure or expectations. Coach K is a big boy. He can handle the critics, it goes with the territory. There is no reason to give up on this coach after one season. After all, Notre Dame is still married to Charlie Weiss. Next season will show a lot. There's got to be changes on the coaching staff, because obviously something isn't jiving. Coach K will have had more time to "clean out" the elements that don't go with his style. Yes, he will lose Brian Brohm, but Hunter Cantwell was named the best back-up in the country by rivals.com. The key is to keep this situtation from a continued downward spiral. Louisville might not be a national championship contender, but they need to be in the Big East hunt. They can't lose at home when they are 38 points favorites. They can't lose to Utah, and they look as bad as they did against South Florida. Coach K didn't say wheter or not he talked to SMU, but for now it looks like he's hanging in for another go. Many top-flight football programs are unhappy with the state of the program, so UofL fans can join the club. Enjoy your turkey and let me know how you feel about Coach K staying put. 4 CommentsLeave a comment |

I agree with Cparks. Coach k, they should run you out of town on a rail, but not before the whole Brohm family physically beats you to a pulp. May your wife divorce you, may your kids turn on you, may your dog bite you- repeatedly!Amen!!!
One year is simply not enough time but what bothers me is that he acts like he is on another planet. The only time he really gets fired up is arguing with the refs, which is half the time or so. If some of the players want to leave, they should. The players totally rejected Krag. They played like they did not care (SU and USF games). His staff could not get along. Tom needs to step in if things don't get better next fall.
Is Steve on valium?
I am glad that he is staying. Let's get behind him and the team to cheer them to victory against Rutgers next Thursday. We can have the first year in about 4 or 5 where we don't have to worry about our coach packing up in the middle of the night and taking another job. He is telling us that he is staying and I believe that this guy has the character to back up what he is saying. Unlike the snake that slithered to the Falcons last year.
I want to win too, but let's give him a chance. One year is not enough to prove anything.
Kentucky fans should be gleeful, they are assured a decent chance of winning every year in football now under Coach K. I could go into a 20 page rant about the honeheaded job he's done with this team this year, but it would be rather pointless now that he's not leaving. Which is unfortunate for both him and Louisville. If you don't win big next year, good luck Coach finding a decent job. And your going to have to win big with less talent than you had this year. The talk is that some of the underclassmen will also be leaving, not just the seniors. Who could blame them, being on a team that was nationaly ranked to a laughing stock in less than a football season. I wonder if the coach even appreciates just how badly it was for Louisville to loose to Syracuse. Another dark age for Cardinal football is upon us, thanks to Tom and the buddy system.
