The Hundred Point Game

9:45 PM Fri, Sep 07, 2007 |

It was one of the worst defensive performances I've ever seen in a college football game. Too strong? I don't think so. Louisville couldn't stop lowly MTSU. They couldn't stop the run, they couldn't stop the pass.

The Cards looked out of position on more than one occasion. They left receivers uncovered. And somehow had big gaps open in the middle of the field. This was all very surprising because so many players are back from last year's Big East Champs. Yes, the head coach is new, but defensive coordinator Mike Cassity is still there. But when you think about it they lost guys like Amobi Okoye, Nate Harris and William Gay..all on NFL rosters right now. As bad as it was with an offense like that it might not matter. Brian Brohm was stellar, so was Anthony Allen.

I am not ready to say the sky is falling on the Cards because of the defense. I look at the first two games as pre-season games. And we all know what pre-season games mean. You won't be able to truly judge Louisville until they take on Kentucky. And that game is almost here.

By the way, I have no problem with fans booing their own team. If ever a group deserved boos..it was that defense. All will be forgiven if they can stop Woodson, Burton and company in Lexington a week from Saturday.

I certainly hope that Kragthorpe stays in Louisville. He is supported by this team and need anymore be said? Those who attend the games should also be sportmen as much as the team on the field. Booing at the first game of the season is unforgivable. That set the tone to the games that followed. Praise goes a LONG WAY.
