Through the first four games of the season one thing is clear, this isn't the same old Louisville team from previous years. Blown assignments, personal foul penalties, just a total lack of enthusiasm leads me to believe this Cardinal football team is in some trouble. Let's break it down. I can forgive the 'Cards for losing at Kentucky. With their win at Arkansas the Wildcats are proving they're a pretty good team. But to lose at home, to Syracuse!!! That's inexcusable. If I'm Planet Red it's time to hit the panic button. Big East title contenders, let alone average Big East teams don't lose to the Orange in their own backyard. Syracuse came into Saturday's game at the bottom of the nation in nearly every statistical category. This is a team Louisville should smoke. This is a team Louisville should regain its confidence against. Instead, this turned out to be a team that embarrased the 'Cards. On their own turf. So the question is how can the 'Cards be fixed. Is it to fire Head Coach Steve Kragthorpe? Maybe get rid of Defensive Coordinator Mike Cassity? I don't think Kragthorpe should be let go, but he deserves to feel some heat right now. Louisville seems to lack a sense of urgency. A sense of focus. And that starts with the head coach. As for Cassity? I remember after the Middle Tennessee game it was stated the defense would be simplified. But two games later there are still blown assignments, missed tackles, and costly penalties. Either the players are not as good as we've hyped them up to be, or they're just not responding to the coaching staff. If things don't get fixed, this could soon be a season to forget for the Louisville Cardinals. The most difficult part of the schedule is still to come with road games against (5)West Virginia and (18)South Florida. Throw in the regular season finale at home against (10)Rutgers and the 'Cards look to be in some trouble if they can't turn this thing around. Let me know what you think. 5 CommentsLeave a comment |

I really believe that Louisville has lost its touch, and we shouldn't be so quick to judge the Coach. He isn't the one on the playing field. Defense needs to get their game together and start acting like they want to be there. So what we lost a coach, big deal, lets get over it and start playing to win. I have no complaints about Offense and want to say congrats to Coach. He has ato be as frustrated as we all are. I'm sure he didn't see it coming this way.
After 4 weeks Kragthorpe finally says it is a secondary problem ( as reported in the CJ on Monday) Why could'nt he have said that after the MTSU game. I can't believe it took him 4 weeks to finally come to that conclusion. Bobby Petrino was a True Football coach, a in your face mask kind of coach who would not tolerate any shananigans by his players. Coach Kragthorpe is a nice guy and some of his players are getting away with murder. I learned that nice guys usually finish last, guess what people were 2-2 barely getting by MTSU and losing to Ketucky and the worst team in the conference Syracuse.Kragthorpe needs to start rolling some heads to get there attention, especially the Defense. If they lose to NC State Jurich needs to get involved and changes need to be made. Jeff Brohm is perfectly capable of taking over this program right now. It is inexcusable for this talented team to be playing as poorly as they are. Frustrated Cards Fan!!
Everybody just get some control yes uofl is not that good right now but i trust tom ju. He will not let it go for to long. If coach k can not win bb who can he win with Tom jurich will take control of it when the time is right . Big red nation will raise up again to all the fan that left early saturday they are not real cards fans. I think kyle d does not like uofl any way like he is big blue lol . pluse baketball is only a few weeks away.
I just wanted to say that you make some very good points about the cards and I totally agree with everything you had to say, especially that our top 10 program should be at 4-0, but what do you expect with a new head coach. I enjoy hearing your comments every night at 11:00pm...KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!
If the defensive backs just stayed in their position we would have won the two games (possibly). The coaches need to tell their players to stay their assigned areas. I don't think that it too hard.
In regards to the penalties after 4 games there is no excuse. Urgatia ( mispelled) should be benched as he evidently doesn't have his head in the game. He is a liability to the team. Let some else play who listens to the coach.
Finally, it doesn't seem the team has the fire to be a winner. They should be 4-0. This probably goes back to the coach,
It is time for a gut check for the team. Nobody wants to be a loser---Let's win the rest of the games!!!!
