September 2007 ArchivesEverybody deserves 12 chances right? Back when Willie Williams was arrested for the 11th time, the University of Miami took a lot of heat for still letting him come to school and play for the Hurricanes. Now three years later, it's Louisville's turn to deal with the trouble that seems to follow this once highly-touted linebacker. ...Only four games into the 2007 UofL football season, the Willie A. Williams experiment is over. The troubled linebacker has been kicked off the team for his arrest Wednesday night. ...Through the first four games of the season one thing is clear, this isn't the same old Louisville team from previous years. Blown assignments, personal foul penalties, just a total lack of enthusiasm leads me to believe this Cardinal football team is in some trouble. ...Welcome to the SEC Kentucky! Yes, I know the 'Cats have been in the conference for a long time, but now it looks like they are going to be competitive. ...There was no shame in a close loss on the road at Kentucky, that's why I was surprised at all the heat on Coach K. But now there are serious problems. ...I realize fans have come to expect a lot out of the Louisville football program, but the backlash against new coach Steve Kragthorpe is ridiculus. He's coached 3 games. Let me say that again. He's coached 3 games... ...The rivalry lives on. UK's 40-34 win over rival Louisville Saturday night was just what the series needed. A competitve game which came down to the final possession. ...After extensive research. After looking over the depth charts. After examining the coaches. After breaking down the film, why do the 'Cats and 'Cards even need to play this game? I already know the outcome. ...One of the worst college football programs in the country has undergone a facelift. UK football fans no longer have to hide their Babe Parilli jersey or walk around with their heads down. It's actually cool to be a Kentucky football fan. And a majority of the credit has to go to head coach Rich Brooks. ...Thank you Jay-Z. Good looking out Shop Boyz. For a minute there, you guys had me believing I was 22 instead of 32. As Jay-Z says in "30 Something," "30's the new 20." Sounds good to me. And who could forget the Shop Boyz memorable song "Party Like A Rockstar." That's what I'm talking about. Age is nothing but a number right? ...Brian Brohm met with the media today and seems even keeled as always. Brohm says growing up as a Cards fan in Louisville he always hated seeing Louisville lose to UK in any sport. ...It's Monday of UK/UofL game week and we don't have to hear anymore talk about one game at a time. That ONE game is here. Steve Kragthorpe and two of his players spoke about the game at their weekly press conference. ...Time to break it down. Saturday's Louisville-Kentucky game could be one of the most entertaining games of the year. On paper it looks like a shoot-out, but you never know. Here's who has the edge at each position... ...It was one of the worst defensive performances I've ever seen in a college football game. Too strong? I don't think so. Louisville couldn't stop lowly MTSU. They couldn't stop the run, they couldn't stop the pass. ...Rich Brooks and the Kentucky Wildcats have to be pleased with the 50-10 beatdown they administered to the Eastern Kentucky Colonels. When a so-called power program like Michigan gets beat at home to 1-AA Appalachian State, you know anything can happen in college football. But you have to give credit to the 'Cats. ...Great, now we really do have to believe coaches when they say.."on any given day any team can win." Appalachian State proved that by going to the Big House and foreclosing on Michigan. Note to Wolverines, if you are going to schedule a I-AA team, don't schedule the best one. ...Week one of the season is in the books, but you know I couldn't let things end without giving my thoughts on how the big three (UofL, UK, and IU) fared. They all played some pretty bad competition so it's no surprise they each won by mammoth margins. ... |
