University of Louisville head coach Steve Kragthorpe has a decision to make: Whether or not to keep sophomore wide receiver JaJuan Spillman in the lineup or suspend him. Back in January Spillman was cited for driving under the influence, and marijuana possession. He has yet to have his day in court, but that should not stop Kragthorpe from doing what he has to do -- suspend him for a game. According to the police report, Spillman and another passenger in the car admitted to smoking marijuana. Police found nearly 10 grams of the substance in the car. If Spillman did indeed admit to smoking marijuana, as well as driving under the influence of alcohol, which is also inlcuded in the complaint, Kragthorpe should have all the information he needs. That's enough to warrant a one game suspension right there. Spillman is due in court September 21, but if Coach Kragthorpe is to send a message to Spillman and the rest of the team he has to be firm. He says the situation has already been dealt with, within the program. The right thing to do would be to suspend Spillman for one game, or at least make him ride the pine in the opener. Let me know what you think. Kyle "The Insider" Draper 4 CommentsLeave a comment |

Spillman should play. This incident happened back in January, its not recent news other than this being the time of his court date. I'm sure he's been disciplined by the coaching staff in the 8 months since the incident happened. Spillman will plead guilty to the charges, pay the fines, do community service and tkae some d.u.i classes and be over with it.
This is already a cross roads decision for the new coach. This should be an easy one. Suspend him for at least one game.
if a coach sould get a dui would he sit out? he being the teacher and all.sould he still get his pay.
I agree with you Kyle,Spillman should sit out until he proves he can control his behavior.Im a huge UofL fan an I hate hearing things like this but I know JuJuan will turn this into a positive somehow on the field when the time is right.
