Off To Omaha

10:55 PM Wed, Jun 13, 2007 |

After covering the UofL baseball team in Louisville all week, I'm following them to Omaha, NE for the College World Series. Friday morning myself and photographer Ron Johnson will make the long haul west.

We're actually excited about the trip. From everything I'm being told the College World Series is an event unlike any other. The passion of the fans and the way the city of Omaha embraces its visitors is something I'm looking forward to.

It would be nice if the Cards can get a couple of wins to extend our trip in America's heartland. They have a very tough opening day game however. They take on the second seeded Rice Owls, Friday at 2:00 eastern. The popular belief is the Owls have one of the nations best pitching staff's so Louisville will have to bring their "A" game if they want to start the tournament off on a winning note.

Win or lose the Cards will play two games in Omaha. On Sunday they take on the winner of the North Carolina-Mississippi State game, and if they win one of those games they play again on Tuesday. It should be a good trip and if the Cards keep up their hot play they'll be hard to beat. Check back here for more updates on the road to Omaha.
