Good Times on Planet Red

9:10 PM Mon, Jun 18, 2007 |

What can you say about the state of UofL athletics right now. They are on a big red roll. It seems like every sport is reaching new levels of success. Now it's baseball's turn.

Louisville's run to the College World Series has quickly put the baseball program on the map in this area. Let's face it after football, basketball, the Derby, and the Soprano's finale, there's not much room for anything else. But everyone loves a winner. Put that together with the dedicated Louisville fans and we have a match made in Omaha heaven.

This team has a lot going for it. For starters, they score runs like a playstation game. Instead of the crack of the bat, it's the ping of the aluminum ringing in my head from all those hits the UofL sluggers are cranking out. And people also like this team because of all the local players on the roster.

No matter what happens in Omaha, this World Series run should translate into a attendance boost next season, and a salary boost for first-year coach Dan McDonnell. Final Four, Orange Bowl and now this...Louisville fans are hoping the party keeps on going.
