Rand Paul supporters have turned the cameras on an opposition research tracker, presumably from the Trey Grayson campaign, who was videotaping Paul flipping pancakes at a charity breakfast. Watch the YouTube video here. The tracker remains stonefaced and concentrates on his own video camera as a Paul supporter attempts to interview him and provide him breakfast. As we've discussed in the Mongiardo YouTube videos, campaigns routinely hire trackers to videotape opponents' campaigns, often for later use in attack ads. Perhaps Trey Grayson's campaign could later use the flapjack footage if a commerical suggests Paul is "flip-flopping" on an issue or even "waffling" on a response to a challenging question. Paul has already frowned on the premise that a senator must "bring home the bacon," and the legislative process has often been likened to the messiness of making sausage. However, this exercise in breakfast metaphors appears to have left egg on my face. Paul campaign manager David Adams tells me that they are "running a different kind of campaign" and will not be hiring anyone to follow opponents around to capture those *gotcha* moments. They apparently do, however, support the videotaping of other trackers. I see a reality TV series somewhere in here. 5 CommentsLeave a comment |

Rand Paul's focus is on getting government busybodies out of the way of ordinary Americans who build things, help people, and create jobs without bailouts or special programs. That's why more Kentuckians are deciding every day to support his U.S. Senate campaign.
It makes sense that Grayson would think it prudent to film people to try to catch them 'flip-flopping". After his deciding he is not a democrat and such, surely everyone must be like him!
I'm sure there are enough younger supporters of Rand Paul that he wouldn't need to pay anyone for this sort of thing if he needs it. So far Paul seems to be the most stable and calm of the bunch. Should be an interesting election cycle. My favorite scene so far was Conway at Fancy Farm, who then ended up being made fun of on international television.
This tactic of following a political opponent in every public event, even a purely charitable event for the Lions Club (the local chapter was founded by Rand Paul many years ago) brings several words to mind.
Pathetic.
Desperate.
Weasel.
Lame.
I hope other Kentuckians see this for what it is and vote accordingly. At the very least, the video was worth a laugh. It does seem like the Grayson campaign keeps doing the same dirty tricks and similar political ploys that worked in the past, but they aren't working this year. Voters are finally awake and are paying attention.
LOL at the Greyson campaign!
